Inspirations
Alijoma's musical journey began with the songs he heard on his mother's tape radio. He was particularly inspired by Lingala music from Congolese artists like Koffi Olomide and Awilo Longomba, as well as by South Sudanese legends such as Amos Ajak, Nayankol Mathiang, Panchol Deng Ajang, Johnson Jock, and Bol Panan. His parents have been a continuous source of motivation and support throughout his career.
Early Career
Alijoma started freestyle rapping at the age of 15. In 2010, he recorded his first song, marking the beginning of his professional career. By 2011, he was performing at night shows and connecting with other upcoming artists. His live performances quickly gained him a following.
In 2012, Alijoma released "We Need Freedom," a song that resonated deeply in Eastern Equatoria's capital, Torit. The following year, he released the hit "En La Khor Weu," which became popular among the youth.
Rise to Fame
2013 was a pivotal year for Alijoma. He released "Yin Ca Leec Mama," a song that went viral in 2014 and solidified his name in the music industry.
Continued Success
Alijoma continued to build on his success. In early 2015, he began producing CDs in Australia and uploaded his album to platforms like iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify. His hard work paid off when he won the Most Promising Afro Artist of the Year at the STA Awards in Kenya in 2015.
